Overview

GERAS, Groupe d’Étude et de Recherche en Anglais de Spécialité (English for Specific Purposes Study and Research Group) is a voluntary association whose main goals are to:

  •  Promote research in the field of English for Specific Purposes;
  •  Provide a forum for English for Specific Purposes teachers and researchers to meet and exchange ideas;
  •  Contribute to the development and improvement of teaching practices in English for Specific Purposes;
  •  Promote incentives that contribute to the best interests of the field as a whole.

GERAS is an affiliate of the Société des Anglicistes de l’Enseignement Supérieur (SAES) (Society of Higher-Education English Teachers). We are in regular contact with other associations of teachers of English for Specific Purposes and with comparable associations with an interest in similar areas of research and teaching.

GERAS organises an annual conference, publishes a newsletter at varying intervals throughout the year “La Lettre du GERAS”, as well as the journal ASp (2 issues/year, one in Spring and one in Autumn).
